March & April Dress of the Month
Looking for dresses with high style and simple construction? In this class, average to more advanced stitchers alike can leave class with that "check out my sweet new dress" swagger! Some previous experience with simple sewing patterns is best and we highly recommend taking the Garment Sewing from a Pattern series for a more in-depth learning experience with pattern fitting and basics. Follow our rating system below so you don't fall in over your head.
Pattern: Colette 1013 (Crepe by Colette Patterns)
Rated: Easy. This pattern includes sizes 0-18. A sweet and easy wrap dress with no closures to sew. The dress wraps in the back and has cap sleeves. The wide ties encircle the waist for a comfortable dress with a fitted look. Version 1 has a rounded neckline, while Version 2 has a shaped sweetheart neckline and waist ties in a contrasting fabric. This class is taught by Tina Sparkles, who is a fashion designer, accomplished stitcher and instructor.
In Stitch Lab ratings, Easy means you have recently taken the Beginning I Sewing Series or equivalent, and can thread and operate your own machine, but have never used a commercial pattern before. Average means you've done a pattern before and feel confident with your machine functions, sewing and pressing seams, etc.
Prerequisite: Beginning I Sewing Series or equivalent experience required. Previous experience sewing from a pattern is helpful. Not sure? Please email and we'll discuss!
