Know Your Knits — Asymmetrical Batwing Tunic!

Knit garments are a huge part of your off-the-rack wardrobe, but many stitchers are intimidated by working with them on the sewing machine. Because of the stretch-factor, knit fabrics require some special handling, but sewing with knits can be easy when you know all the tips and tricks to getting the results you want!

For the Spring version of this class, you’ll make an asymmetrical batwing top while learning all about the various kinds of knit fabrics, how to get flexible seams and hems on both the sewing machine and serger, special presser feet, needles and notions for working with knits.

This class uses McCall’s pattern M6400. Purchase your pattern at any chain fabric store, Hobby Lobby or online, well in advance of class.

This pattern features Misses’ knit top. It requires a moderate stretch knit, such as jersey, cotton lycra or a cotton knit. Additional Fabric may be needed to match stripes, plaids or one-way design fabric. The Stitch Lab rating for all views is EASY. Easy means you have taken the Beginning I Sewing Series, Crash Course, or equivalent, and can thread and operate your own machine.

Prerequisites: Beginning I Sewing Series, Crash Course, or equivalent experience. Not sure? Please email and we'll discuss!
