Surface Design I

This class introduces students to hands-on dyework with a palette of dye colors. They will dye fabric, experiment with mixing colors to create their own dye hues, and enjoy a “tasting menu” of surface design techniques, including water-soluble resists, direct application of thickened dyes with stamps and stencils, and beginning discharge (removing dye color to create pattern). Surface Design I is suitable for all levels of expertise. [NOTE: While the dyes and chemicals we work with are very safe, many women choose not to work with dyes during pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester. If you're pregnant or planning on it, consult with your doctor before enrolling.]

$120 (With an additional $15 fee for materials provided in class, payable to the instructor in Class #1)
