DIY Pattern Making 101 (Basic Pattern Manipulation)

Whether you want to make your own clothing patterns or alter existing commercial patterns, this class will get you started in the right direction. We will start off by learning how to use various pattern-making rulers and tools to complete basic techniques like adding seam allowance, tracing patterns and truing lines. You will also learn how to make creative alterations to a pattern by adding or changing style lines; moving, splitting and combining darts; and altering the length and width of a pattern. All in all, this one night class will leave you excited and ready to experiment with puzzling together an original pattern for yourself.

Prerequisite: Students must have taken the Beginning I Sewing Series, the Crash Course, or have equivalent sewing knowledge in order to take this class. We also recommend that you have completed Garment Sewing From A Pattern course or have made several garments from patterns on your own to fully comprehend the concepts of this class.
