Strips & Stripes Quilt Series

The design of this quilt is clean and elegant and spare, but that also makes it easy and quick to piece. The large-scale blocks are crafted out of solid cottons and give you a chance to play with pure color. To that end I pieced the sample out of solid cottons, newly purchased and from a single designer. In my case it was Kaffe Fassett’s richly hued shot cottons. You don’t have to use the same cottons I did, but you’ll want to stick to one brand of solids to enhance the almost minimalist nature of this quilt.

This 3-class series will walk you through the steps of cutting the fabric, sewing the rows, quilting and finishing the quilt. Class#1 will focus on cutting the rectangles and piecing them together. Students should come to the second class with a pieced top so they can focus on basting, quilting.Class #3 will focus on binding and finishing your creations — homework required! Finished quilt measures 43.5” X 45”. Level: Beginner/Average.

Prerequisite: The Quilt It! Introductory Quilting Series, or equivalent experience.
