Beginning Hat Making: Sinamay Fascinator
Sinamay is a lightweight, woven straw fabric that has become increasingly popular in the millinery industry over the past decade. It is available in a myriad of colors and is easily manipulated into sculpted hats and headpieces using a steamer or iron. In this class, students will block a sinamay fascinator base and learn how to wire and finish edges. They will also experiment with various sculpting techniques, achieving a unique headpiece that is fashion-forward and the perfect accessory for a wedding, the races, or an evening on the town.
Prerequisite: Previous sewing skills helpful, but not required.
